Emily Daly (she/her/hers)
Associate University Librarian for Research and Public Services
About
Before starting as Associate University Librarian (AUL) for Research and Public Services (RPS), I served as Interim AUL for RPS and Interim Head of Research & Instructional Services. For 9 years prior to that, I was the Head of the Assessment & User Experience Department, a department I helped estabilish. While I find (nearly!) all aspects of my work interesting, I especially enjoy working and learning alongside talented library colleagues; managing projects and staff; mentoring new library workers; developing innovtive teaching and learning partnerships; and helping to improve the usability and effectiveness of Duke Libraries’ public services and spaces (a never-ending job!).
Background
I began at Duke as an intern in Lilly Library and then started working full-time in Perkins Library the following year. Prior to working at Duke, I taught high school English for a short time and then served as the teen librarian at Natrona County Public Library in Casper, Wyoming and as librarian in Durham’s Southern High School. I received my BA in English/secondary education from N.C. State and my MS in library science from UNC-Chapel Hill.
