Ren Bickel

I'm the technical services archivist for the Sallie Bingham Center for Women's History and Culture, which means I prepare the collections for use by researchers. I arrange the materials physically, figuring out the best way to store and label them, and also intellectually, grouping like things together and creating series and subseries to facilitate research. Then I write the finding aid and create the metadata that make the collections searchable.  I love that my role allows me to apply my strengths to preserving and making accessible cultural heritage that I'm passionate about, and I am grateful that I get to work with rich, unique collections and have hands-on encounters with women's history every day.
